Home Assessment FAQ
What is the purpose of the Home Assessment?
Our comprehensive Home Assessment intends for the homeowner (you!) to have a more intricate understanding of your own home and property through the lens of wildfire risk and mitigation. This home visit prioritizes homeowner engagement to address areas of learning, concerns, barriers that prevent wildfire mitigation or maintenance, and understanding what you would like to see in terms of fire and emergency preparedness.
What should I expect during the site visit?
Your Home Assessment can take up to three hours. We conduct a detailed evaluation of your home and surrounding property to identify vulnerabilities to wildfire and recommend practical mitigation strategies. This assessment includes an analysis of your building materials, vegetation, topography, and maintenance practices to determine how well your home is protected against embers, radiant heat, and direct flame contact.
What information will be included in the final report?
You will receive a detailed report with all of the findings that were shared during the visit, including pictures (and drone photos if necessary and applicable) and a list of recommendations for home hardening, vegetation management, and access in and out of your home/property. If applicable, a letter to your homeowners insurance company stating that a wildfire home assessment has been completed alongside a plan for mitigation will accompany the report.
